Reality-Checker Mohammed Zubair Cites Dying Risk, Goes To Supreme Courtroom For Bail

The Supreme Courtroom is more likely to hear tomorrow fact-checker Mohammed Zubair’s plea searching for bail and quashing of a case registered towards him in on allegations of injuring non secular sentiments. 

His lawyer, Colin Gonsalves, argued for pressing itemizing: “There are dying threats towards him… Individuals have stated that they’ll kill him. We’re anxious about his security.” Asking the court docket to listen to the plea at 2pm right now, he stated, “Please see the urgency.” Justice Indira Banerjee ordered that the matter be listed tomorrow “topic to clearance by the Chief Justice of India”.

Mr Zubair, co-founder of fact-checking outlet Alt Information, is in Delhi’s Tihar Jail as he was first arrested by the Delhi Police on June 27 over a four-year-old tweet. He was later taken to Sitapur in UP the place one other FIR is registered towards him as he known as some Hindu right-wing leaders “hatemongers”.

His lawyer advised the Supreme Courtroom that the Allahabad Excessive Courtroom had refused to quash the (Sitapur) FIR towards him.
